The next Café Guix will be held at the following link https://meet.univ-grenoble-alpes.fr/b/cel-dyj-m93-arv, “Once upon a time, there was a functional language” led by Alice Brenon, Parallel Computing Laboratory (LIP).
The adoption of a tool like Guix, over and above the interest of the concepts it brings into play and what it technically allows, translates into the day-to-day use of its software environment and in particular its language, Guile Scheme. While the syntax of languages in the LISP family still sometimes discourages the use of Guix, this presentation aims to show the advantages that using Guile actually represents. A (true!) story of package transformation will illustrate how the language works and how it can be used in a real-life context.
The Café Guix is a place and a time for informal, French-speaking exchanges on the Guix software environment manager. Students, researchers, system administrators, IT support staff from labs or computer centres - everyone is welcome to attend this one-hour monthly meeting where we can discuss the questions everyone has about Guix and its use in the broadest sense.
